A Millheim woman charged with child endangerment waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Miracle J. Good, 43, of Millheim, was taken into custody Monday on charges of child endangerment and simple assault after police said she struck her child after an evening of “drinking heavily.”
Good’s attorney, Patrick Klena, said Wednesday that, contrary to the police affidavit, Good had not hit her child with a fist but had rather slapped him with an open hand. State police at Rockview said the strike may not have been a fist, but the incident remains an arrestable offense.
The felony charge of endangering the welfare of children was reduced to a misdemeanor Wednesday, according to court documents, as the Centre County District Attorney’s Office said the act was a single incident and did not show a course of conduct. District Judge Allen Sinclair modified the $50,000 straight bail to unsecured bail and she was released from the Centre County Correctional Facility.

The charges now move to the Centre County Court of Common Pleas.
